Au Revoir, Cheerfulness

Okay, not really.  However, this is our last chance to hook up with Planet Penny, here, to share our Reasons To Be Cheerful.  So, then, on to our cheerfulness for this week!

This fellow has been doing his best since the latter part of November to help us be cheerful throughout the winter!

The Goatmother and Goatfather just took a day trip to Coupeville on Whidbey Island.  What's not cheery about that, except for perhaps the fact that I didn't get to go? :(

Then, of course, there is this guy with the whimsical look on his face.  I often look that same way when I have Peanuts all over my bea... uh, er, mouth.

And last, but certainly not least by any stretch of the imagination.  This is THE most cheerful reason of the week!

The new camera just arrived.  The Goatmother has been agonizing simply forever over which one to buy.  Mind you none of the above pictures were taken with it.  After all, this is going to require a bit of a learning period.  Perhaps two periods.  However, it will all come together in due time, so you are just going to have to wait a bit ... just like you are waiting for the end of The Princess and the Peanut.  Although, that actually is going to show up sooner than the pictures.

So, get thee on over to Planet Penny and see why others are cheerful!  And don't forget to check back for the long awaited conclusion of The Princess and the Peanut!

Gorgeous flower, not great on them, but is it a Christmas cactus? Is there a prize?

I've so enjoyed seeing some very pretty birds in our garden in the past few days, don't know birds at all but this one had red on it's head, and White black and yellow on it's wings...I will look it up and sound a bit more knowledgeable me thinks.

Very exciting about the camera.....can't wait to see the pics....does it come with a big manual to learn what everything does...I'm afraid I'm not a good reader of manuals more of a Jump in and try it kinda gal.

Dear Renee,
I don't know. The Goatmother can be pretty dense sometimes. However, a few pictures have been taken to 'make sure it all works' and we are blown away by the difference!

I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!! You took off that awful, dreadful, horrible new Word Verification!

Oh thank you. I do so hope you don't have to go back to it. I so hope that just Comment Ver. is enough.

'Cause it is really, really awful. I like it, that someone wants to save old manuscripts... That's the reason they tell us, that they are doing this awful new form.

But please, don't make bloggers do the work of saving manuscripts. Come on, we don't have time. Blogging is supposed to be fun. And all that.

Enough!!!

But again thank you!!!!!!!

Dear Faith,
Yay! A big round of applause for you! It is indeed a Christmas Cactus. Although, this one maybe should be called a Winter Cactus because it has bloomed so long!
The camera does come with a manual, but it is smallish. Since it is an SLR and the Goatmother has not owned one before, she has purchased 4 books to learn! We will hope for the best. It does have all 'auto' modes, but apparently there are so many nicer things you can do with it if you learn how.
Please let me know what kind of bird that is you describe. It sounds awesome! Birds are one of the Goatmother's main picture subject goals...and goats, of course. :)

Dear Auntie,
I know! Isn't it awesome? Can the Goatmother learn to master it? Only time will tell ... :)

Dear Auntie,
I hope so too! The Goatmother actually sent Blogger an email asking them to revamp it because people are turning it off. No answer, however. Are we surprised?

Dear Miss MiMi,
Thank you! Here's to hoping it gets much, much better! (The photography and the weather.) :)

Wow. Nice camera! The pressure's on now, you know. We shall be expecting some simply amazing photography from you, Marigold. Or are you planning to shuffle that off on the Goatmother?

Gorgeous Christmas cactus and bird!

Those are all good reasons to be cheerful. I hope your Goatmother is a good blog photographer for you. My silly human likes taking pictures of geese and chickens and stuff like that. I really don't know why she thinks I want those on my blog.

Dear Mrs. Micawber,
There is a nice little indentation where the button is on the camera that may serve to allow a hoof to fit much better. We shall see. If the photos are bad, the Goatmother did it. If they are good, well, of course it was me!

Dear Millie,
I know what you mean. The Goatmother wants to take pictures of birds. If you ask me, you've seen one, you've seen them all. Oh, well, as I told Mrs. Micawber, if the photos are bad, it is her fault, if they are good, it was me! Maybe, though, the Goatmother can learn to do some cool things like your lady does with her camera. You have to admit she does take some nice pictures - especially of the goats.

~Thanks so much for joining in over the last weeks, it's been fun xxx

Dear Penny,
No, thank you for hosting such a great idea! I've had a request to continue on with it. We'll see. It may happen yet. :)

Wow, quite the camera! I understand about needing extra learning time to master your new photo beast.

What is the pink flower please? It is beautiful.

I am looking forward to seeing new pics in the days ahead. The camera you are using takes great shots (or maybe that is you, Marigold), I can only dream of what your new camera will capture.

Those ducks better be careful; I've read fancy cameras steal souls.

Marigold said...

Dear J,
The blossom is a Christmas Cactus that didn't want to let go of Christmas. Perhaps it is an Easter Cactus. Oh! Where did you read this fascinating bit of information about the soul stealing? Ah, perhaps the Maasai? I shall have to try it out on the Urduck-H'ai.

So, have ya tried it yet? Have ya tried it yet??? Forget the books, just go out and take some pictures! You may read about all the fancy gadgets after you leave your hoof marks on it! Just go out there and shoot!

Love the Christmas cactus. My last withered one fell off just last weekend. It's always sad when they go dormant, but now come the wildflowers of spring and summer!!! Well, if the snow will just melt...

Marigold said...

Dear Snowcatcher,
Yes! We've tried it! We are blown away! SO much to learn, though. :) I am ready for some of those flowers to pop out so we can take some pictures of them!
