I'm Not Really Very Cheerful But ...

Yes, that is right.  I am not really very cheerful this week.  I mean I missed being cheerful last week entirely.  Of course that was my fault because I was so busy trying to conclude my Lord of the Wings trilogy, but this week it is just not my fault.  The Goatmother is obsessing about cameras and has had the computer tied up.  I suppose I'm going to have to demand one for the barn, but you would think with four computers in the house, plus a smart phone, they would let me use at least one.  Oy.

Anyway, I've been thinking I might write a new story, but we shall see.  In the meantime, I thought I better get back to linking up with Planet Penny, here, so, just in case you are struggling with cheerfulness this week, you can go and see what is making others happy this week.  I did find a few meager things that tickled my cheerfulness bone this week.  I have to say, it was rather difficult, though, seeing as how that stupid Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow and now we are doomed to six more weeks of winter.  Ground Hogs.  Oy.

So, cheerfulness ... here goes:

The sun!  The sun!  It is supposed to shine clear until next Tuesday!  (Please note that the Mighty Quinn is seeing his shadow though.  Who needs a Ground Hog anyway?)

Buds on the Indian Plum!  They are the fist things to come out in the SPRING!

Yarrow blooming in February?  What's up with that?  It usually doesn't bloom until the middle of summer, for Goats' Sake.

A bud on the Lilac bush!

And last, but not least :

A lovely green head.  Why is it the guys always have the beautiful hair and the long lashes?

Yes, there IS some cheerfulness around! In the UK apparently it's the hedgehog that stands in for a groundhog, but I actually think its a dachshund!
Oh, and I don't have to lie down for a Higgins eye view, I bend very well in the middle!

Dear Penny,
Hedgehogs are much, much cuter than Ground Hogs. I'd go with the Hedgehog. As for the Higgins-eye view. Sure. I bet you really lay on the ground and just don't want to fess up! :)

Dear Marigold,

I am insanely jealous of your yarrow. Don't eat it! (Actually I think it may be slightly poisonous. Will have to look that up. But wait! Goats are famous for eating poisonous things, aren't they?)

The green head is very lovely. Also the buds and the sunshine.

I think you need to buy a Goatbook so you can write posts whenever the mood strikes. Do you have wireless in the barn?

P.S. Our Wisconsin groundhog, Jimmy of Sun Prairie, predicted an early spring.
Weather guys! You just can't trust them. And they can't even agree with each other.

You've certainly found some things to be cheerful about. My human (aka blog photographer) uses a Nikon D3100. She generally does an okay job of picture taking for me.

Dear Mrs. Micawber,
Snicker... snort! 'Goatbook'. I love it! Just so you know, don't think Yarrow is poisonous. It is an age old medicinal. But I'm not going to eat it anyway because it is on the other side of the fence. Plus, I don't like it very much. Now if it were a Peanut plant, now for that I would figure out how to get over the fence.

Dear Mrs. Micawber's P.S.,
This is why I say one must always, Always, ALWAYS trust a Woolly Booger.

Dear Millie,
I'll tell her and maybe she'll finally let me near the computer. :)

Careful Marigold: don't let anyone get too close to mister long eye lashes and brilliant green head. You don't know what his intentions are!

Better stick with close ups of other non-feathered friends.

I wonder if more plants will blossom? Very strange weather indeed. Nice pics though!

Dear J,
It's all very scary. Very scary indeed.

Oh wow! Buds coming out! Hope it's not too soon. Hope they won't be caught with cold weather... Bleahhhh......

Dear Auntie,
Me too! Maybe the Goatmother should crochet them all coats. It would keep her off the streets. :)

I am so happy that you are having sun. We catch a glimpse once in a while. Not very reliable if you ask me. I enjoy your flowers. We still have a blanket of snow. Of course it is Feb and we are Maine. Ho Hum, just sitting her waiting for spring. Send more picks of green stuff, even if it is a ducks head. ;)

Marigold said...

Dear Kelly,
We'll see if anymore green things come out. Can't do more ducks, though. They have a big enough head as it is. :)

Dear MiMi,
Yes, Goat-in-the-boxes are rare and elusive and secretive to boot!

I can't believe they use groundhogs to predict the weather, wouldn't they be better off asking the opinion of a far more intelligent and superior goat? I also can't believe that Penny says we use a hedgehog in the uk what have I been missing out on?

What a very lovely green head, I am now under the thinking that only boys have the best eyelashes...my three lads all have gorgeous ridiculously long lashes....beats me!

The weather is odd here too and we hav. Few things starting with buds, but stranger, some flowers that have kept going through our up until now mild winter.

Marigold said...

Dear Faith,
I quite agree. Goats would be a much better predictor of the weather. However, Woolly Boogers are the best. Still I suppose they would have difficulty getting one of those to come out of a burrow. I blame all this weird weather stuff on weather Gremlins.

This was the post I was trying to comment on when my computer went down, and it probably won't be funny anymore, but my first thought was, yes, get the Goatmother to crochet caps and scarves for the buds, and that will keep her away from the computer, and you'll be able to use it! Smirk, smirk.

Of course, now that she has that fab camera, she'll be using it all the time, so you'll only have to get out of the way when she has to download.

Marigold said...

Dear Snowcatcher,
Oh, good idea! That would keep her busy for some time. Especially now since there are so many MORE buds!
