Learning Mode

So where have I been?  Well, you may remember that we got a new camera recently.  This is the first time we've ever had an SLR type camera and there is a certain amount of learning involved with such an undertaking.  Actually there is a whole LOT of learning involved.  Nonetheless, being the smart goat I am, I have managed to at least form a certain platform from which to build my skill.  Still, you wouldn't believe how difficult it is to push that tiny little button with a hoof.  Oy VAY, Mama!

So, without anymore talking the talk, I present to you at least the beginnings of the walk.

What can I say?  They insisted.

Everyone has to get in on the act.  Oy.

Ahem ... did I say everyone?

There are even show-offs in nature.

Incoming!

Whew!  Pulled up just in time.

The end.  For now.
* For Dear Auntie ... these photos are *real*. :)

You are a very talented goat! I make my human take all my blog pictures.

Dear Millie,
And your human does such a great job, but really, you should give it a try. I'm just sayin' ...

Wow, spectacular photos!!! I love the one of the flowers...are they a type of wild pansy? The pictures of Cabra and Quinn are so clear, quite a handsome duo I might add.

If you ever decide to quit writing, you could have a new career as a photo journalist!

What fantastic pictures! So much depth and clarity. I'd love a camera like that ... I think I NEED a camera like that ... (slaps face and cries "No! The one you have works perfectly well!").

What are the lovely pied pink-and-purple blossoms? And the little pink buds behind the evil quack-quacks?

P.S. Nice work with the button!

By gosh, you time learning has been well spent, your photos are brilliant Marigold. They are all lovely, especially the gull ones. Look at those snowy mountains....very impressed indeed. There will be people falling over themselves waiting to 'papped' by you Marigold!

Dear J,
Thank you so much! You give me pause for thought...I might become the very first goat photojournalist. Who knows? the flower is an African Violet, by the way.

Dear Brenda,
Thank you! We like it here, and it has many lovely plants to eat... err... take pictures of.

Dear Mrs. Micawber,
You would completely blow me away if you had an SLR, since you already take such beautiful photos. You capture the light well, which is something I want to learn to do. The flower is an African Violet, and behind the UrDuck-Hai is heather (about the only thing blooming this time of year here).

Dear Faith,
So glad you liked them. I was kind of of impressed with the gull pictures too. I probably should have used a polarizing lens on the mountain shot, but next time. :) It is all so new it is hard to remember! Especially if you have to stop every now and then and think about Peanuts.

There ain't nothing like a SLR. There are months that I take over 300 pics. Sometimes I amaze myself. I think you did fantastic. What mtn? Have fun.

Marigold said...

Dear Kelly,
Thank you. The mountain is in the background of the last shot with the lighthouse. By the way, what color did your bathroom end up?

Marigold said...

Dear Kelly,
The Goatfather says you were asking the name of the mountain, not where was there a mountain in that picture. I beg your pardon. Obviously I have spent too much time with the Goatmother who was born blonde and never got over it. The mountain is Mt. Baker.

Dear BuffyBelle,
Thank you! So glad you like them. You should try it. It isn't that difficult with the hooves. :)

glad you liked the flank steak!

Dear Jaz,
The Goatmother and Goatfather will definitely be putting that recipe in their 'Tried and True' folder! :)

If this was your first time out with the new camera, I'd say the learning curve doesn't need to be too steep. These are fabulous! Now we just have to get those hooves up to speed in PhotoShop. Heh heh!

The flowers are gorgeous. I looked at the heather instead of the ducks. :) But the ducks do have great color.

I am most impressed with your action shots of the bird! I think you are well on your way!

Marigold said...

Dear Snowcatcher,
Thank you! That is high praise indeed coming from you! I agree about the duck photo...just all that color was hard to resist. :) Too dark too, I think. More work to do! :)
